Supplementary Data

A.Number of tines: To be counted a tine, a projection must be at least 2,0 cm. long and its length must exceed the length of its base. Apart from small tines that may erupt on the upper edge of the brow – principally on Axis deer – all other tines additional to the brow and main upper tine are considered as Supplementary Data only. Additional tines, when they occur, are principally found on Sambar antlers.

B.Tip to tip: Measure distance between tips of main beam.

C.Greatest spread: Width measured at widest part, whether across main beams or points.

  1. Score Data
    1. Inside span: To be measured at right angles to the centre line of the skull at widest point between main beams. Enter this measurement in span credit column and if this figure exceeds the length of the longer antler enter the difference in column 4.
    2. Length of main beam (antler): Measure along outside of the antler from the base of the coronet to tip. Enter measurements in columns 2 and 3 and any difference between these measurements in column 4.
    3. Length of first tine (brow): Measure from upper edge of coronet along the underside of tine to its extremity. Enter measurements in columns 2 and 3, and any difference between the measurements in column 4.
    4. Length of second main tine: Measure from place where it emerges from main beam, to its extremity. Enter measurements in columns 2 and 3, and any difference in these measurements in column 4.
    5. Length of upper brow tines (if present): In some trophies, principally Axis deer, small tines or jags erupt from the upper edge of the main brow tine. Provided these exceed 2,0 centimetres in length and the length exceeds the length of their base, they should be measured along outside face. Enter measurements in columns 2 and 3 and any difference in these measurements in column 4.
    6. Circumference upper beam: To be measured at thinnest place between brow tine (1.3.) and second main tine (1.4.). If the latter is absent, then mid-way between brow tine and tip of antler. Enter measurements in columns 2 and 3 and any difference in the measurements in column 4.
