Instructions

  1. Measurements
    1. Length of horn. The length is measured along the front edge of the horn, from the base of the sheath to its extremity.
    2. Height of horns. The height of the horns is measured from the suture on the top of the skull, between the two horns, right up to the top of the curve of the horn. This point will be determined by laying a rule across the top of the curve on both horns.
    3. Circumference of horn. The circumference is measured at the thickest place round the horn, including the dark deposit. According to the thickness of this deposit up to 5 points can be deducted (see Penalty points).
    4. Span. The greatest distance between the two horns is measured at the top of the curve from the middle of one horn to the middle of the other. This measurement, even if it exceeds the figure recorded for the height of horns (1.2) must not be awarded any more points than was obtained by the height.
  2. Points for Age and Penalty Points
    1. Points for Age:

From 6 to 10 years old: 1 point
      11 and 12 years old: 2 points
13 years older and greater: 3 points

    2. Penalty Points for Deposit on Horns: This is determined by subtracting from the number of marks allotted for circumference (at 1.3), the figure that is obtained by taking the circumference at a comparable place that has no deposit (also in cm and multiplied by 4), and the resulting difference should be reduced by 1 before entry into the points deduction column. The maximum number of points that can be deducted is 5.
